Review of Cardiac Ward written by a patient
22nd June 2016

During my procedure there were complications and I was left with some pain in my arm and raised blood pressure. As a result I was kept in overnight. During that period I was surprised at how few times my blood pressure was monitored. My other observation was that there was no linkage between the Consultant who operated on me and advised that I should stay in and I had no follow up from him before I was discharged. I was required to explain to the discharging doctor what the problem had been and I felt that the Consultant should have checked my situation before I was discharged, and I felt that I was discharged by a doctor who had no real knowledge of my issues. Having said the ward staff were really good as was the operating team. I would also say that the team at Gloucester were fantastic when I went in the previous week and I cannot complain at the speed as to which I was operated upon, and thank you very much for that.

Review of Alstone written by a patient
18th June 2016

The only problem was the time taken after being told I could go to the point of receiving the paper work. A delay as the Physio' failed to fill in there details and then had gone home.so the registrar had to agree to the discharge. I have been in the hospital a number of times and I feel that there is poor communication between departments that could be improved which would help in clearing beds quicker.

Excellent, could not have asked for better treatment. All the Nurses and staff were attentive and professional. Looking around the ward, toilets and bathrooms I could not fault the cleanliness.

Review of Cheltenham General Hospital written by a patient

I had an urgent CT scan for possible cancer. From the receptionist to the young man who did my canula and consent to the young radioligist, I felt welcomed, well cared for and valued. They all said hello and told me their names. The whole process which I know can be stressful (I have had cancer already) was managed as well as it could be and much better than my past experience at CG. One thing that I thought improved my experience was that I did not need to change into a gown for the scan I was having. That really does make me feel more in control. I appreciate that often it is necessary but when it isn't it is so much better to leave patients in the own clothes. The information sent beforehand was clear, the timescale for the procedure was accurate and in fact having seen my GP in the morning I received the appointment letter in the post the following morning. To improve things, the letter could say which car park is nearest the appointment area. It would also have helped to indicate when the results would be available. I had a very anxious week after the scan waiting for the results and I ddint expect it to bè that long. In my case that meant an anxious stressful 3 weeks before getting a clear scan result. Thank you to all involved that evening especially Josh who really helped me at each stage. A lovely caring young person.

Review of Kemerton written by a patient

I attended Kemerton Ward for a check up following removal of a tumour from my bladder earlier in the year. I was treated with complete professionalism by all concerned. The procedure was carried out efficiently and quickly and I was treated as an intelligent adult by all concerned. The whole thing was clearly explained at all points and I was advised as to what to expect in the future. I cannot commend those concerned too highly.

I came into the ward for 4 days whilst having operation. All nurses were brilliaint, and clearly went out of there way to help me. I could clearly see they were extremly busy, however thia did not effect the way i was treated. Im extremly thankful, and very happy with my treatment and the service i rechived.

Review of Chemotherapy Outpatients written by a patient

Everyone treating me has done so with great respect and concern. I couldn't have asked for better treatment. My only small criticism is that once you have a cancer diagnosis it is assumed that this will take over your life. Necessary appointments are made but there appears to be little thought that they need to fit in around other aspects of life e.g. working full time. This last week I have had an appointment on each week day. Meaning that I have not been able to fully complete one days work this week. I know the appointments are necessary, and I know that they are made with my best intentions at heart, however it would be nice to feel a little less abnormal when I suggest tweaking them to fit in with my real life. My employers (who are fantastic) are fully supporting me, and I would like to be able to give back to them as much as possible by taking as little time off as possible. I am so very pleased that everyone is taking such good care of me and I wouldn't like my above thoughts to look like I am unappreciative of all that you are doing.
